Collection: Liu Pao — Post-Fermented Dark Tea from Guangxi

Liu Pao — China's Other Great Aged Tea

Liu Pao (六堡茶) is one of China's most storied post-fermented teas, originating in Guangxi province. Traditionally aged in bamboo baskets, it develops deep earthy, woody, and camphor notes over years of storage — a close cousin to pu-erh, but with its own unmistakable character.

🌿 What Makes Liu Pao Unique

  • Post-fermented in Guangxi, not Yunnan — distinct terroir and microbial environment
  • Traditional bamboo basket aging — adds subtle woody, smoky notes
  • Renowned in Southeast Asia for centuries — especially treasured by overseas Chinese communities
  • Improves significantly with age — like pu-erh, older is often better

✨ Flavor Profile

Earthy, woody, smooth, with notes of camphor, dates, and aged wood. The liquor is deep red-brown. Forgiving to brew, deeply satisfying to drink.
