Our Story

Gaba Tea House was built on a simple idea: that people in Indonesia deserve access to genuinely exceptional tea — the kind you find in specialist tea houses in Taipei, Hangzhou, or Yunnan, not just supermarket shelves.

We source directly from trusted farmers and producers across Taiwan and China — from the misty high mountains of Alishan and Shan Lin Xi in Taiwan, to the ancient Pu-erh forests of Yunnan, the rock cliffs of Wuyi, and the post-fermentation cellars of Guangxi. Each tea we carry represents a tradition worth preserving and a producer worth supporting.

What is GABA Tea?

Our name comes from GABA — gamma-aminobutyric acid — a naturally occurring compound that can be elevated in tea through a unique nitrogen fermentation process. GABA teas are associated with relaxation, stress reduction, and improved sleep quality, and they form the heart of our signature Gaba Organic collection.

But Gaba Tea House is much more than GABA teas. We carry the full spectrum of premium Chinese and Taiwanese teas: aged Pu-erh cakes, rare Liu Pao dark teas, classic oolongs, pristine white teas, fragrant jasmines, ceremonial matcha, and the extraordinary Yellow Tea — one of China's rarest and most ancient tea categories.
