Zhou Gui (肉桂) — Cinnamon Oolong — is one of the most prized Wuyi rock teas (Yancha 岩茶), grown on the mineral cliffs of Mount Hua Yan Shan in Fujian. Alongside Da Hong Pao, it is considered one of the two kings of Wuyi oolongs — bold, warming, and powerfully aromatic. In Chinese tea philosophy, Zhou Gui symbolises fire: intense, energising, and unforgettable.
Origin & Character
Origin: Wuyi Mountains, Fujian Province | Mountain: Hua Yan Shan
Type: Yancha rock oolong (肉桂) | Producer: Lao Chen Cha Chang factory
Processing: Traditional charcoal roasting
The unique rock mineral soil of Wuyi imparts the characteristic "yan yun" (rock rhyme 岩韵) — a mineral depth that defines all authentic Yancha teas. Zhou Gui's name refers to the cinnamon-wood flavour that distinguishes it, created through expert charcoal roasting over traditional Wuyi methods. Particularly cherished by enthusiasts of strong, full-bodied teas with lasting complexity.
