Sheng pu-erh (生普洱 — 'raw puer') is the traditional form of pu-erh — naturally fermented over months, years, and decades. It is a living tea: the microbial activity inside the compressed leaves continues to evolve the flavor long after pressing. Young sheng is bold, astringent, and vibrant; aged sheng becomes one of the most complex beverages in the world.

  • Young sheng (1–5 years) — bright, floral, grassy, some bitterness and astringency. High energy, cooling in nature
  • Mid-aged sheng (5–15 years) — softening, fruity, honey developing, complexity emerging
  • Aged sheng (15+ years) — smooth, camphor, dried fruit, extraordinary depth. The highest expression of pu-erh
